Discover North Greenford’s green spaces, food growing, community and faith, with tea at Horsenden Grape & Honey Farm.
This relaxed walk explores some of the places, people and stories that make Greenford interesting and distinctive – from open green spaces and food growing to community projects, faith communities and local life.
This free walk is part of the Ealing Walking, Talking and Exploring Group (EWTEG)–Golden Opportunity Skills and Development (GOS&D) community programme, supported by Ealing Council. Everyone is welcome. They particularly hope to bring together local residents, people connected with community organisations and people who may not usually join organised walks.
Talking and Exploring walks are not repeated guided tours. Each one is a different experience, shaped together on the day by the people who come, the places and people we encounter – and the conversations that develop along the way. Everyone is welcome to contribute, share their perspective and learn from others if they wish.
Meet at Sudbury Hill Station and make your way through North Greenford, taking in Horsenden Grape & Honey Farm, Feeding Ealing CIC – a different way of discovering North Greenford.
A particular highlight will be a visit to Horsenden Grape & Honey Farm to stop for tea under their marquee and hear more about what they are doing. They are also helping us connect with other local community and faith organisations, so there may be opportunities to meet people and hear their perspectives along the way.
The walk is approximately two miles. There will be plenty of time to stop, look, talk and hear stories. Some of the connections and visits are still being arranged, so the exact stops may change closer to the day.
As with all Talking and Exploring walks, the experience is about more than simply following a route. Explore together and have conversations, questions, contributions and the unexpected things can be encountered along the way.
And the connection doesn’t have to end when the walk does, you can keep in touch through the Ealing Walking, Talking and Exploring Group, where people continue conversations and share photographs and experiences after the walk.
Finishing around 3.30pm, there will be an option to continue the afternoon over food and conversation at Piwnica na Pietrze, a local Polish restaurant.
The meal is completely optional and is not included in the walk ticket.
