Presented through exhibitions, installations, site-specific interventions, performances, food, open studios, talks, workshops and participatory events, Manufactory invites audiences into the hidden spaces of production that shape the city. Unfolding across workshops, warehouses, studios and industrial sites, the festival opens environments rarely accessible to the public, foregrounding Park Royal as a distinctive destination for contemporary interdisciplinary practice.
Manufactory: Day 2 brings together performance, participation and conversation, moving between the festival’s industrial sites throughout Park Royal.
Berlin-based dance company DANCÆ returns to 57 Gorst Road with a ballet set to electronic music featuring Dominic Kießling’s life-size installation The Cloud, bringing sculpture, choreography, sound and architecture into direct dialogue.
The day begins at Queensrollahouse with Lucy Algar, Chihiro Kawasaki and Antonello Sangirardi’s ticketed participatory Drawing Performance Workshop, extending the ideas of Reflecting Movement through choreography and collective mark-making. Later, Leanne Wiggers leads drop-in sessions exploring plant-based photographic processes in the darkroom.
The festival’s talks programme turns towards the ideas, images and processes behind the work. Choreographer Russell Maliphant OBE joins a conversation on movement and light; Jermaine Francis, Linn Phyllis Seeger, Taous Dahmani and Charlotte Jansen come together for Lens Media and the Manufactured Image; and current Manufactory × ArtReview Writing Residents Hannah Pezzack and Aram Masharqa meet in conversation.
Exhibitions, installations, open studios and participatory projects continue throughout the day across the wider festival programme.
To close Manufactory, Abbas Zahedi and Bill Daggs present a live sonic performance, leading into the festival’s final late-night set programmed by music partner Meet In The MIDI, featuring Karim Bitar and other artists.
