Revealing the line up for New Gen Festival

This year’s New Gen Festival, West London’s festival by and for young people, is back in Walpole Park on Wednesday 24th  July with an inclusive and family-friendly line up of music, dance, spoken word and workshops.

New Gen’s headliner this year is Cristale, a supremely skilled rapper, poet, storyteller, visual artist – as well as being a current University student. Her recent underground hits include ‘Morgan’, ‘Whites’ and ‘See Myself’, with recent acting credits including the critically acclaimed Channel 4 and Disney collaboration Queenie.

She will be joined on the main stage by DJ Kwamz and ten artists chosen by a youth panel at Bollo Brook Youth Centre from the rich diversity of emerging talent in West London and beyond.

The West Stage is a space for inclusivity and collaboration, featuring a series of curated takeovers by local arts organisations. These include the London College of Music; The Metaphorest, one of London’s top spoken word producers; Include Me, who are bringing Chicken Shed’s ‘Inclusion Emergency’ and the IMPACT Theatre Band to New Gen; and Rebels and Pilgrims, a Southall based organisation who run creative community pop-ups and are committed to inspiring everyone living in and around Southall to play, connect and elevate each other.

In the Activity Zone, attendants can take part in poetry workshops, an open mic session and a film careers panel. Elsewhere on the site, festival goers can take part in workshops with Ealing’s own True Steel Pan Band, test their football skills with Brentford FC, and browse the stands at New Gen’s Youth Market.

In the Media Zone, the New Gen Film Shoot will give participants the chance to test their skills in front of or behind the camera and get some guidance from a screen industry professional, whilst at Presenter Talent Search you can try out your TV and radio presenter skills in front of a panel of friendly judges, and get some tips from the Westside DJs.

The Mind Zone is a quiet, inclusive space to chill out and recharge, offering creative and mindful activities from our partners – including IMPACT Theatre and Include Me – working in mental health and supporting families with additional needs. Yoga sessions, sign dancing demonstrations, and art and mindfulness are all on offer.

Tickets for New Gen are from only £3 – book yours here now. For further details on the programme, visit the New Gen website.
