Laura Baggaley will talk about her first novella, Dirt, published on 22nd May. A dystopian eco-romance for young adults that shows even on stony ground, hope can grow.
Laura is a writer and theatre-maker. She is a firm believer in imagination activism. She enjoys the challenge of creating alternative possible futures in her writing and hopes that by imagining different worlds we’ll be able to build a better one.
I don’t travel by plane anymore (you can get a long way by train). I think a lot about the new world we need to build – a world with climate justice, renewable energy and sustainable economies.
When I was a kid, the books in my rucksack were stories about rebels and poets. About people being brave enough to tell the truth and stand up to bullies. About people believing in a different, better world and, by imagining it, making it possible.

So we urge you to come along to the library! This promises to be a fun and engaging event where we invite all to learn more about creating possible futures and the process of writing.
We’re doing our best to organise events which will be of interest to younger audiences. This is the first author talk we’re holding specifically for teenagers, with an environmental message which is especially important to so many young people.
