Top tips from a local entrepreneur

Many members of our local community have been enjoying seasonal pop-ups, family friendly activities and live music nights with thanks to Nix Events. Nix Events provide a bespoke service and focus on charitable, community, corporate and private milestone events. We took some time to speak to Anita, Founder and Director, to discover what it’s like to run an events business in Ealing and get some top tips for new entrepreneurs in the borough.

Tell us about your background

I have worked for several organisations and businesses in management roles and decided in 2017 that I wanted to build my events business and manage myself. I went through life-changing circumstances and finally found freedom in 2017; this was key in the start of producing events. 2021 arrived and I managed to launch Nix Events after many challenges. Having delivered events through planning and collaborations with various clients including Brentford Football Club, Tesco’s, London Borough of Ealing, Rickmansworth Golf Club and private events for clients, it has been a pleasure and always enjoyable. Working closely with several businesses, charities and collaborators is always fun.

What does an average day look like?

My great day consists of liaising with clients, managing freelancers, team catch ups, project work and planning events. I coach and mentor those who work with me and it is always my pleasure. Planning budgeting and propelling events forward is the greatest part there is always a plan and back up plan.

What can we expect from Nix Events?

Ealing will enjoy events that are social, cultural and fun. Currently in motion we have seasonal pop-ups that include well being, art, activities focusing on all, artisan markets and music events. The community benefit from an array of events which give a space for locals to enjoy the event as a visitor or be a part of the event. There are opportunities to connect with a variety of charities, Community Interest Companies and businesses.

Tell us about setting up an event business

I’ve always enjoyed creating events since a young age and had a passion for everything that came with this, so it’s a natural response to becoming an entrepreneur, it has to be within you and having the faith, power, enthusiasm, brain and dedication to become a founder and director. As part of being a support to the Ealing Community I will be running quarterly ‘How to set up A Business’ watch this space!
