Black Histories Walk in West Ealing

23-Oct-2026

Ealing

Description & further information

Commemorating Eric and Jessica Huntley, the Bogle L’Ouverture bookshop and existing organisations and individuals from the Black community

Meet outside West Ealing Community Library and set off on our walk exploring the streets of West Ealing and paying tribute especially to the Huntleys, Eric and Jessica, who for many years ran the Bogle L’Ouverture Bookshop in Chignell Place.

They also collected a huge archive of materials relating to the Caribbean and Black presence in the U.K. which is now housed in the London Metropolitan Archives in Farringdon.

Find others from the Black community on the way and there may be a chance to visit the new West London mosque.

The walk will end at 1 Bayham Road, the home of a number of community organisations but especially of GOS&D (Global Opportunities Skills and Development) who are collaborating with Ealing Walking Talking and Exploring with the walk funded by Ealing Council Health and Social Care.

At the end there will be an opportunity to go to a local cafe/restaurant for an optional chill and chat.
