Cult British horror podcast General Witchfinders announces halloween eve screening of hammer classic Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde!
General Witchfinders, the top-ten UK film history podcast (selected for inclusion in the British Library’s National Sound Archive), brings a special Halloween Eve screening and live podcast show to ActOne Cinema.
The main feature is Roy Ward Baker’s Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971). Written by Brian Clemens (Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter), the film takes a wild turn on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale by introducing a female alter ego, weaving historical figures Jack the Ripper and Burke and Hare directly into the plot. Starring Ralph Bates and Martine Beswick, it stands as one of Hammer’s most ingenious and atmospheric adaptations.
Following the film, hosts Ross Cleaver, James Randall and Jon Pountney take to the stage. Bringing a mountain of facts mixed with an obsession for the obscure side of British culture. The trio will examine the cast, crew and production history, following any unusual side roads their conversation leads them down. Expect a lively mix of trivia, dark comedy and pop-culture tangents.
Housed in the restored Edwardian building of the Old Library in Acton, ActOne Cinema provides a distinct, character-rich setting for a night focused on vintage British screen history.
