Join award winning dancer and choreographer Russell Maliphant OBE for a series of movement workshops for both dancers and non-dancers.
These movement sessions – focusing on stretching, posture and body work – are for anyone who loves to move. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, this session is open to everyone.
Studies have shown the average office worker spends about 70% of their working hours sitting down, equating to roughly 1,300 hours – or 54 days – seated per year. So rather than being one of the 52% of workers that eat lunch at their desks, join us for a movement session on your lunch break!
Please come to the workshop in clothes you are comfortable moving in – whether this be workout gear or loose fitting, casual wear. You will be asked to take your shoes off for the session so please also wear comfortable socks.
If you have any questions regarding access or additional needs or on the format of the event, please email Culture@Ealing.gov.uk.
Russell Maliphant‘s work is characterised by a unique approach to flow and energy and an ongoing exploration of the relationship between movement, light and music. For 20 years, Maliphant has worked closely with pioneering lighting designer Michael Hulls to explore and realise these ideas. Russell Maliphant and Michael Hulls are both Associate Artist of Sadler’s Wells.
Russell Maliphant Dance Company was established in 1996 as the framework to initiate productions and to work with our own ensemble of dancers. Since that time we have received two Olivier awards, three South Bank Show awards and five Critics’ Circle National Dance awards for best modern choreography and one for best independent company, amongst many other national and international awards and nominations.
These workshops are part of Healing Ealing, a series of sessions at the recently reopened Perceval House led by some of the borough’s leading creatives. Join us for Healing Ealing, exploring how taking part in creative activity can improve your wellbeing.
