Be inspired, listen and learn, get involved
October is Black History Month and libraries across the borough bring you opportunities to explore Black culture through a series of fun and inspiring events. There are activities for all, young and old.
For 2024, the theme for Black History Month is Reclaiming Narratives, encouraging Black people to take control of their stories and for everyone to celebrate Black heritage. We have invited Black authors, speakers and a Councillor to engage you with their stories.
Storytime with Mariesa Dulak
Author Mariesa Dulak reads from her fantastic new children’s book There’s a tiger on the train.

Pioneers of Black Football
Look back at Black footballers from the 70s-90s with David Gleave and Bill Hearn, with a nod to players from West London clubs.

Children’s creative workshops
Grace Quansah will lead a creative workshop inspired by the works of Benjamin Zephaniah. Children will have a chance to perform their work too!

Darcus Beese – Rebel with a Cause
Former Record boss and son of Civil rights activist Darcus Howe will be at Central library to discuss his brand new book Rebel With a Cause.
