Engaging young students with a shadow puppet workshop
Artist, Haffendi Anuar, worked with students at Havelock School to produce shadow puppets in a workshop helping to engage the local community. Part of Southall Public Art Project. Watch the video to see how the day went! In this creative workshop, students were encouraged to make their own puppets inspired by the Dominion Centre’s cinema heritage and their own community.
Haffendi started his engagement with our community at Dominion Centre at the project, liaising with visitors and giving them a chance to shape and inform his creative approach.
The outcomes of his discussions and this school workshop will help to inform Haf’s final art piece – coming soon to the streets of Southall! Haffendi will create a layered sculptural mural at the Dominion Centre and Library. The installation will include seating, offering a space for rest and reflection.
