Report launched at Ealing Council’s Culture Forum
This month, Ealing Council’s Culture Forum took us to the newly refurbished Ealing Film Studios, where the University of West London (UWL) launched their new research on West London’s Film Industry Cluster.
The report highlights the national importance of west London’s film and TV cluster, home to over 6,000 companies generating over £70 billion in turnover.
Ealing Studios is the oldest film studio in the world that is still operating. The studios opened in 1902 and went through an iconic revamp in 2025.
At the event, attendees including Councillor Peter Mason, Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal and Rupa Huq MP were treated to a tour of the studios, kindly guided by Justine Shepherd, Managing Director of Ealing Film Studios.
A panel of industry experts including Charlie Ingall (Versa Studios), Louise Conolly Smith (London & Partners) and Michelle Jenkins (Film London) discussed how we can build on west London’s strengths in the screen industries and drive growth. Emily Caston, Professor of Screen Industries at UWL, who led the research for the report, gave a talk, sharing insights on growing the sector and building on Ealing’s rich film heritage.
